California Private Label was founded in 2014 by Ana Sato, a long time veteran at Shiseido specializing in international brand growth. Born in Yokohama, Japan, Ana earned her MBA at the University of Tokyo, and quickly began working for the biggest names in Asian beauty. She moved to California in 2013 to oversee expansion of popular Asian brands into the booming American cosmetics market.

Despite her successes, Ana wanted a change from the rigid boundaries of the corporate lifestyle. She founded California Private Label with the mission to help businesses enter the intimidating world of self-branded retail, while fostering a working environment that encourages creativity and rewards talent above corporate conformity. Ana is grateful to her amazing team, who are the heart and soul of California Private Label, and she’s excited to share their talent and ingenuity with you!
